Our Story

"Pregnancy and I don't agree with each other". At least that's what I tell people. Due to Having PCOS it's hard to get pregnant, its also hard to stay pregnant and if that happens it hard to be pregnant. I am sick all the time and end the pregnancies with preeclampsia.

After having my second child I swore I was done. I would sometimes jokingly say things like "maybe we will adopt when Brig is 5 or so". Adoption has always been something we have been open too ever sense we struggled getting pregnant with our first.

Here's, somewhat, our timeline from when our youngest child was born until now:

Sept 2009- second child Brig is born

April 2010- Rob wants to add to our family. Emmalee is adamant on no more! Rob drops the subject because he knows if he pushes it she will just push back even harder.

June 2012- Emmalee has finally come around and wants to add to the family as well. wishes she could skip the pregnancy and first few months after, but likes the idea of having a big or at least bigger family when she is older. Adoption had not even crossed her mind at this point.

August 2012- Emmalee has her IUD removed and starts on clomid (a drug that helps ovulation).

November 2012- finds out we are Pregnant.

December 2012- after several weeks of morning sickness Emmalee goes in for what should be a 12+ week check up. There is no heart beat found. She has a D and C a few days later. Rob brings up adoption, but we decided to try one more pregnancy.

May 2013- still not pregnant and has decided clomid was causing sever mood swings and it was negatively effecting relationships. called the doctor and was put on something else.(cant remember what)

June 2013- We both decided it was time to put a limit on how long we were going to try before going the adoption route. We decided if I was not pregnant by September we would stop trying and start looking into adoption.

Last week of August 2013- Emmalee feels strongly that adoption is what we should be doing. She sets up a private adoption board on pinterest and starts doing research. 4 days later finds out we're pregnant. Wait What?! very confusing time for us.

September 2013- goes into doctor on what we thought would be 10 weeks. The baby is too small to measure, but does have a heart beat. We go back two weeks later, the baby has grown, but no longer has a heart beat. Emmalee has another D and C a few days later. We feel like it may have been God's way of telling us that Adoption was where we should be heading.

December 2013- we decide on international adoption.

February 2014- we decide on the country Bulgaria.

May 2014- We finally hit the set amount of savings we wanted before starting the process.  We had some other financial goals we wanted to accomplish before we started on saving for adoption. Plus, we wanted enough to get threw the first few payments that happen pretty quick in the process. We choose an agency and are ready to apply. We start this blog!
